Computer

I'm thinking about buying a new computer...and I'm assuming that most who play with blogs are something of computer geeks..well, need some advice guys!! I really want a light weight, laptop, wireless, and small...I'm not sure where to go online to look for one, so if anyone has some advise, I would appreciate it:)

The thing is that I want to be able to drag this thing around to work on writing and presentations from the pool to the bar to lab meetings, the one I have now is killing my shoulder and is, (sorry buddy) slowing down a bit

I got a Gateway from BestBuy. I love it. Is wireless and all. About $1300 after all the software, taxes, insurance and stuff. And then you can get the Verizon Wireless card so you can go online anywhere.

The best thing about laptops is you can lay in your bed and visit the world. I love that the most!

Thanks for the visit. Don't you love Jill? So young, so talented.

Mac has their light light and white laptops for under a 1,000. And Macs don't get viruses. It comes with a few good programs but not Microsoft word. It is a great price and a great weight.

Wow, I love Montana. Been there many times camping in the amazing national parks and off the beatent rack. Rock Creek was one of my favourite places int he world. Good beer made in montanan too. And some of the best book stores second hand I've ever shopped in.

I was just in Nashville and Memphis in Sept!!! I loved them and with my three pals we had such a terrific time. We saw Lucinda Williams in the Ryman Audi. she was great. We went to Fisk University to see their incredible collection of persoanl art of Steicn that Georgia OKeefe gave them when he died.

I just see that you were here in Chicago last week! Wow, and I know a fair bit about particle accelerators! We have a little in common. In fact I probably know as much as a lay person cana bout PA. I have a very good friend who works at Triumf in Vancouver and have toured the world largest magnet(at least it used to be ha) a couple of times! Also had a pla who was working on Particle H in Brookhaven and some aquaintances who worked at Stanford. all of them have worked on CERN.

You sound like a super interesting person. Thanks so much for visiting my blog. Great to meet you.

p.s. I just realized...if you are a scientist, you probably don't want a mac. I find most people in programming and physics use pcs Macs are amazing if you are just like me art wise and not concerned with programming a computer. My friend who works at Triumf says "no self respecting physicist would be caught dead on a mac" hee hee!!!!

Well, I can say that Sony Vaio are really small because all there components are external. But, if you are just looking for something small to use for writing and such, they might work out for you. They used to really suck, but Sony's have gotten better through the years to be decent. Not real sure about their customer service though. Best bet is to just go to Best Buy and see if they have something on sale. With the way things are nowadays, everything is pretty much comparable when it comes to performance. You just have to pay more for what you are going to use it for. Basic laptop with software not used for movies and gaming shouldn't run you over $1200 for the most part. So in other words, I have no new advice for you, so you're on your own. See you in less than a month! hehe

Thanks jj!

Minx, my brother went to college in Missoula, can be a nice area! Of course there is the rivalry of his college town and mine, Bozeman, so have to stick up for Bozeman being prettier;)
